Dodge Ram

The ram on the grille is older than the name. Dodge fitted a ram's-head hood ornament to its cars and trucks from the early 1930s into the 1950s, and when it renamed its full-size pickups Ram for the 1981 model year, the animal came back.

Two changes made the reputation. In 1989 Dodge began offering the Cummins turbodiesel, a 5.9-liter straight-six, in its heavy-duty pickups. And the 1994 Ram, introduced with a big-rig-style grille, was named Motor Trend's Truck of the Year.

The truck was sold as the Dodge Ram until 2010, when it was spun off as its own brand, Ram Trucks. The pickup in this picture is a late-model Ram crew cab, from the line whose current generation debuted in 2018.

It is shown in bad weather: a dark gray crew cab with RAM across the grille and its headlamps lit, on heavy off-road tires, stopped on a snow-covered track in a blowing white storm. Steep mountains fade into the weather behind it, and the ruts it has made curve away over the drifts.
