1970 Dodge Charger $225
1970 Dodge Charger — detail of the artwork
★ The 1970 Charger ★

The last 1968-style Charger and the car from a 2001 hit

Dodge put the Charger on a new body for 1968, the fastback with the narrow waist that people still call coke-bottle, and 1970 was the last year it was sold. The next Charger, in 1971, was a different car.

The 1970 model got a new nose, with a chrome loop around the grille, and the performance menu stayed as strong as ever. The R/T came with a 440 Magnum V8 at 375 horsepower, with a 440 Six Pack at 390 or the 426 Hemi at 425 above it.

It found a second life in film. In The Fast and the Furious (2001), Dominic Toretto's black Charger R/T is a 1970 model.

This one is in black and white, parked under a curving concrete overpass at the edge of a city, with a low sun showing in the gap between the pillars. A utility pole, a chain-link fence and a few distant buildings sit behind it, and the road is cracked and patched. The car is dark, nose turned a little toward the camera, in the shade of the span.

Important time to show support for our country

My office has slowly turned into an American museum. I started with the Iwo Jima painting, but now I've got a full wall of historical American posters. Quality is great and easy to hang.
