Eight triangular panels, eight minutes, and Atlanta's pinwheel roof
Mercedes-Benz Stadium opened in Atlanta on August 26, 2017, after three delays, at a reported cost of about $1.6 billion. It is the home of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons and Major League Soccer's Atlanta United, and it hosted Super Bowl LIII in 2019.
The roof is the reason people talk about it. Eight translucent triangular panels ride on rails and slide apart in a pinwheel, opening or closing in roughly eight minutes, an idea its designers took from the open eye at the top of the Roman Pantheon. Inside, a halo-shaped video board, 58 feet tall and more than a thousand feet around, rings the bowl above the seats.
This picture looks straight down on it. Eight triangular panels in shades of grey wheel around a small round opening at the center, ringed in a thin line of copper-pink, all of it on a cream sheet with the stadium's name and city set small in capitals at the top. Seen from above, the roof looks like the blades of a camera shutter, each one overlapping the next.

Important time to show support for our country
My office has slowly turned into an American museum. I started with the Iwo Jima painting, but now I've got a full wall of historical American posters. Quality is great and easy to hang.
