Bryant-Denny Stadium — detail of the artwork
★ Stadiums of America ★

From 12,000 seats in 1929 to 100,077 today

Bryant-Denny Stadium opened on September 28, 1929, as Denny Stadium, with a 55–0 Alabama win over Mississippi College. It was named for George H. Denny, the university's president from 1912 to 1932, and it held 12,000 people.

In 1975 the state legislature added the name of head coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, who coached Alabama through 1982. The stands were enlarged in 1937, 1946, 1961, 1966, 1988, 1998, 2006 and 2010, and the stadium in Tuscaloosa now holds 100,077. The record crowd is 101,821.

Outside the north end zone, the Walk of Champions leads to the stadium past 16 granite monuments for conference and national championship teams and five bronze statues of coaches who won national titles, Bryant among them. The stadium is the home of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The print shows the stadium from straight overhead on a cream ground. Two rings of crimson seating circle a striped green field with crimson end zones, divided by a pale gray concourse. Sage-green plazas spread around the outside, and an arc of paving curves at the bottom. The title is set in crimson capitals with Tuscaloosa, Alabama beneath.

Important time to show support for our country

My office has slowly turned into an American museum. I started with the Iwo Jima painting, but now I've got a full wall of historical American posters. Quality is great and easy to hang.
