★ Land of 10,000 Lakes ★
Minnesota counts 11,842 lakes and still calls it 10,000
Minnesota's slogan is Land of 10,000 Lakes, and the state is rounding down. The usual count is 11,842 lakes larger than ten acres, and rounded off, it makes a better slogan.
Minnesota became the 32nd state on May 11, 1858. Its water leaves in three directions: north toward Hudson Bay, east through the Great Lakes to the Atlantic, and south down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico. Few states send their rivers so many different ways.
The picture is a travel poster in warm, flat color. One man in a red canoe sits with his rod out over glassy water, dark green pines on both shores and their reflections stretching across the lake. A pair of ducks paddles behind him, and orange and yellow wildflowers lean in from the bank at lower right. The sky is soft gold, with 'Visit Minnesota' in navy capitals at the top and 'Land of 10,000 Lakes' beneath it in rust.

Important time to show support for our country
My office has slowly turned into an American museum. I started with the Iwo Jima painting, but now I've got a full wall of historical American posters. Quality is great and easy to hang.
