★ The Chesapeake ★
A skipjack, a lighthouse on stilts, and the best crab in America
Everything Maryland is proud of, stacked into one frame: a skipjack under full sail, a screwpile lighthouse up on its iron legs, and a blue crab the size of the horizon.
The skipjack is the state boat and the last commercial sailing fleet in North America — shallow-draft, single-masted, built to dredge Chesapeake oysters under sail because Maryland law required it. The lighthouses on stilts were a Chesapeake answer to a Chesapeake problem: screwpiles driven into soft bay bottom where a stone tower would simply have sunk. And the crab is Callinectes sapidus, the beautiful swimmer — the thing every Marylander means when they say summer.
The banner carries the state flag, the only one in the Union drawn from real English heraldry: the black-and-gold Calvert arms quartered against the red-and-white Crossland cross. Marylanders put it on everything. This is the version you hang.

Important time to show support for our country
My office has slowly turned into an American museum. I started with the Iwo Jima painting, but now I've got a full wall of historical American posters. Quality is great and easy to hang.
