Washington Rallying the Troops at Monmouth $119.00
Washington Rallying at Monmouth print, close-up of the museum-quality matte fine-art paper surface and brushwork.

The story behind the art

June 28, 1778 — a day so blisteringly hot that men on both sides dropped from heatstroke before they ever met the enemy. As the British column withdrew across New Jersey, General Charles Lee sent the American advance into a muddled, near-disgraceful retreat.

Then Washington arrived. Riding straight into the collapsing line, he turned his men around by sheer force of will, steadied them under fire, and reformed the ranks in the open field. What happened next stunned the British: the Continentals — drilled all winter at Valley Forge by Baron von Steuben — stood their ground and traded volley for volley with the finest regulars in the world.

Monmouth ended in a draw, but it settled a far larger question. The ragged army of 1776 was gone. In its place stood a professional force that could meet the British Empire head-on and refuse to break.

Printed on 200 gsm matte poster stock and mounted behind shatter-resistant acrylic in a 22 mm deep pine frame, available in black, natural wood or dark wood. The print is fitted into the frame before it ships, so it arrives assembled with hanging hardware in place, ready for a portrait or landscape wall.

Important time to show support for our country

My office has slowly turned into an American museum. I started with the Iwo Jima painting, but now I've got a full wall of historical American posters. Quality is great and easy to hang.
