Premium frame quality close-up

Our Materials & how we ensure quality

Every Canvas of America piece ships ready to hang — and it's meant to stay on your wall for decades. Here's exactly what goes into each format and why we chose the materials we did.

Stretched Canvas — The Classic Choice

Our canvas prints are built on FSC-certified wood stretcher bars — responsibly sourced poplar or pine — wrapped in a cotton-polyester blend canvas weighing 300–350 gsm (110–130 lb). That weight matters. Cheaper canvases skimp on gsm and you can feel it immediately: they flex, they warp, they fade. Ours don't.

The cotton in the blend gives the surface a natural texture that makes oil painting-style art look genuinely painted rather than printed. The polyester keeps colors vibrant and resistant to fading over time. At 350–400 microns thick, the canvas has real substance — it's taut, rigid, and built to hold its shape on the wall for generations.

Every canvas ships with a hanging kit already included. You won't need a trip to the hardware store.

Available in: Wood frame, Black frame, or unframed canvas wrap.

Premium Wooden Frame — For Those Who Want It All Done

Our wooden frame prints arrive completely finished. The art is printed on 200 gsm (80 lb) archival matte paper — FSC-certified, smooth, and built to resist fading from light and moisture — then set behind shatterproof plexiglass inside a solid wood frame.

The frames are crafted from responsibly sourced oak and ash, each one showing its own distinct natural wood grain. At 20mm (0.79") thick, they're substantially wider than the standard 14mm frames you'll find everywhere else. That extra width gives the piece a real presence on the wall — it looks like something that belongs in a gallery, not a big box store.

Shatterproof plexiglass protects the print without the glare you'd get from standard glass. Hanging hardware is pre-attached. You hang it, you're done.

Available in: Natural wood, Black, and Dark wood finishes.

Semi-Glossy Poster — Clean, Vivid, Timeless

Our poster prints are produced on 200 gsm (80 lb) premium semi-glossy paper — FSC-certified, coated silk stock at 0.22mm thick. That coating is what separates a real quality print from something that looks like it came out of an office printer.

The semi-gloss finish enhances color depth and contrast while adding just enough sheen to make the art pop without becoming a mirror. It also protects against fading from light and moisture, which matters when you're putting something on a wall that gets afternoon sun.

Posters ship flat in protective packaging. They're designed to be framed — pick a frame that speaks to your space, and you've got a custom piece for a fraction of the cost.

Brushed Aluminum — For Spaces That Demand Attention

This is the most striking format we offer, and the most misunderstood. Brushed aluminum prints are not photos printed on paper and glued to metal. The art is printed directly onto 3mm DIBOND® aluminum composite — a rigid industrial-grade material used in architectural applications and high-end commercial displays.

The base is a metallic silver with a horizontal brushed grain. Because no white ink is used in the printing process, any area of the design that is white or very light allows the raw brushed aluminum to show through. The result is a depth effect that simply cannot be replicated on paper — colors sit on a surface that catches and interacts with light, giving the piece an almost three-dimensional quality.

At 3mm thick, DIBOND® is rigid, scratch-resistant, lightweight, and built to last. It won't warp, won't fade, and requires zero framing. The hanging kit is included.

It works best with art that has rich, saturated colors and strong contrast — which is exactly what our American heritage and patriotic collections are built around.

Why It Matters to Us

Every piece at Canvas of America is made to order in the United States by American craftspeople. We don't hold inventory, which means your piece is produced fresh — no warehouse, no sitting on a shelf. The materials are sourced sustainably, the production is local, and the result is a piece that's genuinely built to be part of your home for decades.

We chose these four formats because they each serve a different wall, a different room, a different customer. Canvas for warmth and texture. Wooden frames for the complete look out of the box. Posters for flexibility and value. Aluminum for impact.

Whatever you choose, it ships ready to hang — hardware included, made in America.
